Four People, Four Parts of the Bag

Small enough that you will speak to the person who actually builds your club, and specialised enough that nobody is pretending to be an expert in all six categories at once.

Vance Okimoto

Founder, Long Game Fitting — Here since day one

Vance spent nine years as a bench technician for a regional golf retailer before deciding that the interesting work was all happening before the club got built rather than after. He handles driver and fairway sessions, owns the shaft profiling procedure, and is the reason every frequency reading in this building is taken at a five-inch clamp and never anything else.

Will not discuss a driver build until he has seen twenty baseline strikes.

Roslyn Teague

Component Analyst — Joined 2017

Roslyn came out of a materials testing lab and treats a golf shaft the way she used to treat a structural sample. She built the four-band deflection procedure we use to sort candidate shafts, maintains the rack database, and is the person who will tell you, with evidence, that the two shafts you are agonising between are functionally the same object.

Keeps a running list of shafts whose published specs do not survive contact with a caliper.

Emmett Cordova

Assembly and Build Bench — Joined 2019

Every club that leaves this studio passes through Emmett. He cuts, trims, epoxies, weights and grips, then re-reads the finished club against the target spec before it is boxed. He also runs Sunday, which is the day nothing gets fitted and everything gets built, cured and verified.

Refuses to release a build until the epoxy has had a full overnight cure. No exceptions.

Nadia Kwan

Short Game and Putter Fitting — Joined 2021

Nadia handles wedges and putters, the two areas where Las Vegas turf and green speed make generic recommendations least useful. She fits bounce against the seasonal state of local turf rather than a catalogue chart, and runs the putter station with a stroke capture rig set up on a surface matched to how the courses here actually roll.

How Work Gets Divided

You book a session, not a person. The category you book decides who runs it: long game with Vance, irons split between Vance and Roslyn depending on whether the interesting problem is bend profile or geometry, short game and putting with Nadia. Emmett does not run fittings at all, which is deliberate — the person building the club should not also be the person who recommended it.

If a session turns up something outside the booked category, we say so and book the follow-up rather than improvising past the end of the slot. A driver appointment that reveals a set of irons two degrees flat is a good outcome, but it is a second appointment.

On credentials: we hold the usual component-maker build certifications and we do not put much weight on them. A certificate confirms that somebody attended a training week. The spec cards in the filing cabinet are the more honest record.

Everyone here plays. Handicaps in the building run from plus-one to seventeen, which is useful in a way that is hard to overstate — the seventeen keeps the rest of us honest about what a mid-handicap golfer can actually feel and what is fitting-room theatre.
